Sue Hodges Moore


Sue Hodges Moore joined Northern Kentucky University in August 2005 as Vice President for Planning, Policy, and Budget. In July 2015, upon the retirement of the Vice President of Administration and Finance, the division of Institutional Effectiveness (formerly Planning, Policy, and Budget) was merged with Administration and Finance, and Sue was named Senior Vice President of the reorganized division.

In this role, Sue provides leadership for six major areas: Business Operations and Auxiliary Services, Facilities Management, Financial Services, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Planning and Institutional Research. She and her office also have responsibility for several university-wide institutional effectiveness activities, including policy administration and enterprise risk management.

Before coming to NKU in 2005, Sue spent 11 years in leadership positions at the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, the statewide policy board that coordinates change and improvement across Kentucky’s colleges and universities. Her work covered all areas of the CPE responsibilities, including strategic agenda development, finance, affordability, academic affairs, policy research, accountability, and online learning. She served as CPE’s Executive Vice President for four years and also served a year as Interim President.

For over 40 years, Sue’s entire career has been dedicated to postsecondary education and includes work at a comprehensive metropolitan university (Northern Kentucky University), major urban research university (University of Louisville), rural comprehensive institution (East Carolina University), community college system (Kentucky Community and Technical College System—dual assignment while at CPE), and  statewide coordinating board (Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education).

Sue completed her baccalaureate degree at Northern Kentucky University and holds the MBA degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.  In 1994, she received her doctoral degree in education administration from the University of Louisville. She is a 2005 graduate of Leadership Kentucky.

Sue is married to Ronald Moore, retired Vice President for Information Technology at the University of Louisville. Their daughter, Aubrey, was born in 1994.
