Student Outcomes Information Services (SOIS)
What is SOIS?
NCHEMS' Student Outcomes Information Services (SOIS) is one of the nation's oldest and most comprehensive college student survey systems. It is designed to help colleges and universities gain up-to-date information on student needs and reactions to their educational experiences.
All six questionnaires (available in both two-year and four-year college versions) contain a set of common questions that allow an institution to collect information at different stages in a student's college career. The common set of questions include information about:
- Background
- Factors influencing choice of college
- Satisfaction with college experience
- Activities while in college
- Educational plans and accomplishments
- Career choices and career successes
Students can easily complete the SOIS questionnaires in less than 20 minutes, and their combined responses provide a comprehensive and multi-faceted barometer of changing trends and opinions. With six different questionnaires, important comparisons can be made among various student populations and over time.
The six questionnaires are designed for the following student populations:
- Entering Students
- Continuing Students
- Former Students
- Graduating Students
- Recent Alumni
- Long-Term Alumni
The SOIS questionnaires are designed for longitudinal and/or periodic assessment of your students' experiences and opinions. While each of the six questionnaires target different student populations, they provide the following features:
- A common set of core questions
- Up to 15 questions can be added, allowing every campus to customize each questionnaire to address specific campus issues
- Time required for completing any of the questionnaires is less than 20 minutes and all responses are recorded directly on the questionnaire
- Data entry will include the students’ identification number (if requested) which allows an institution to compare results of other studies to the results of the SOIS
What are the costs?
SOIS materials and services have been priced at the minimum level needed to recover costs, and are priced individually so that each institution can select what it wants in just the quantities it wants. Prices and services listed below are current as of publication and are subject to change. (shipping and handling charges will be added to the costs indicated below)
